When they are young, they will experience numerous colds, coughs, and bouts of vomiting and diarrhea, with multiple illnesses running together during fall and winter. This is how the immune system is stretched, "worked out," and trained to respond appropriately. When infections are too dangerous to experience naturally, we vaccinate. In other words, don't rely on herbs and vitamins to keep measles away. That said, are there ways we can meaningfully help the body fend off harmful microbes? Science tells us there is good rason to have hope. Here are some things to focus on as you head into winter with your babes.
